Motivational performing in its essence

My gigs at the Children With Diabetes: Friends For Life Conference reminded
me of why I perform. While the Renaissance Orlando at Sea World was one of
the nicest accommodations I’ve ever received, and the hot tub‘s massage jets
bordered on assault and battery, the rockstar treatment left me feeling slightly
undeserving as I had yet to perform. The gift of an excited audience that
hung on every inspirational word was a far superior performance compensation
than the subsequent cash infusion. Diabetes is something I’ve been living
with for almost eight years, and ironically it was I who was inspired by my
audience of children and teens who had battled the disease for a lot longer.
My mission had been to drum up interest in my four juggling acts as well as
inspire all with the message of heeding the call of the Now as it pertained
to diabetes. Parents’, youths’ and sponsors’ faces all beamed with the
response to my six 30 minute performances: mission complete.
